What are your thoughts on the Colgate Eco Classica III Dual Firmness Eco-Friendlier Crib Mattress? Or anything by Colgate? They are Greenguard certified, but is the Lullaby Earth better? I registered for the Colgate one not knowing about the Lullaby Earth, but if it’s better, I can switch.

Jessie, Eco Foam is created when they replace a small percentage of the polyurethane foam with plant-based ingredients. It looks great to call it “eco-friendly” but these eco foam mattresses are far from non-toxic. Colgate uses vinyl for waterproofing most of their crib mattresses. Vinyl and polyurethane foam are toxic materials and they do off-gas. And they do use chemical fire retardants. Colgate’s mattresses are Greenguard Certified, but have not passed the stricter standards – Greenguard Select. Lullaby Earth uses no polyurethane foam and no vinyl. And there are no toxic fire retardant chemicals. Lullaby Earth has passed the Greenguard Select standards.
