This seminar is designed to provide practitioners with the tools to do physical examinations of well and sick children. Attendees will learn how to examine each body system to detect common abnormalities and pathological signs. Practitioners will also learn the best methods of examining children at different developmental stages, and specific concerns and signs of abnormal conditions in children from birth through adolescence. We will also cover the markers and red flags for those conditions that require referral to pediatricians and other pediatric specialists for a more thorough evaluation or urgent care.
Materials for the seminar include audio-visual presentations of normal and abnormal physical signs, illustrative cases, plastic models, and actual live patients. Hands-on sessions give practitioners the experience of doing physical exams to gain expertise and confidence in diagnosing and managing pediatric cases.
